Our Story
My name is Catherine and I am the creator/chief biscuit maker at Houndberry dog treats. Houndberry was formed as a result of a genuine passion for dogs health and wellbeing, and a desire to provide dogs with a nutritious yet ethical addition to a balanced diet.
During my time working as a veterinary nurse in Fife I developed a keen interest in animal health and nutrition, observing that whilst pet owners were putting more consideration into their dog’s diet there was still a lack of options available for good quality dog treats. So I set out to
create a range of delicious dog treats made from high quality, healthy
ingredients all the while helping to alleviate the environmental impact of dog food production and food waste. After a whole lot of recipe testing I created the wonderful recipes that are available today, not only are they nutritious but environmentally friendly too!
At Houndberry, all our treats are made with recognisable, human grade ingredients. Nutritious wonky fruits and vegetables are incorporated into all our recipes, helping to reduce the environmental impact of food waste and lower our dog’s pawprint on the planet. All our recipes are hypoallergenic and grain-free with no added nasties to keep tails wagging! To ensure consistency and high levels of quality all our treats are handmade and gently baked, this helps us to maintain as much of the nutritional benefits as possible.
I am ‘helped’ by my two chief biscuit testers, dachshunds Leo and Jack. They take their new roles very seriously and are always on hand to sample any and all treats on offer.
